What Wuhan Coronavirus Says About Us and Our Relationship with Planet Earth

urrently, in China and several places around the world, we have an outbreak of a new Coronavirus which is being called the Wuhan Coronavirus since it originated there. There are indications it came from snakes or perhaps bats and then to humans. All of this isn’t really understood at this point, as this virus is quite new.

There are several cities in China under lockdown or severe restrictions, so this virus appears to be something that we need to pay close attention to. Hopefully, our advanced medical technology and the World Health Organization can find out the exact cause and mitigate the spread of this virus or perhaps find a vaccine. This brings me to the point of this article. Our relationship with his planet of out of balance, and we are starting to feel the effects of this more often than not.

Genetically Modified Foods and Other Crops

Native cultures such as the American Indians understand the relationship we have with our planet. We are a part of nature and nature a part of us. As we attempt to genetically modify plants to suit our own needs. We run the risk of upsetting the natural balance of the earth. It seems like the right thing to do. We want plants to resist disease. We want more nutritious food. We want better yields. The problem with this is that it’s not natural. We upset the natural balance and there is no way of knowing how those genetically modified crops will behave in the future. Orange is an orange, but if you genetically modify an orange, it’s not a natural orange. It’s a man-made orange. This could have dire consequences for us in the future.

Animals and Our Food Supply

In China, they eat a lot of food that some people would consider “odd.” One of them is bat soup. This may be the reason why this new Wuhan virus exists. A virus in bats or perhaps snakes has come into contact with humans and is now mutating and infecting human beings. (not confirmed) In addition, many places in China are less than sanitary and the food they eat is left in these unsanitary conditions. Like anything else its profit above the well-being of the people that matters. This provides the perfect incubator for animal illnesses to make the switch to humans. In places like China and other places in the world people are left to live in absolute misery and poverty.

We have lost touch with nature. As we move farther and farther away from our natural world, nature is going to come and bite us on the ass. We think that we can control nature and make it do our bidding. This can’t be further from the case. The further we screw with Mother Nature the more Mother Nature is going to lash out at us. We’ve seen this in previous years with other outbreaks. No one knows whether or not whether or not this outbreak it’s going to be serious or not. As I write this, there are even more major cities in China that are on lockdown. This tells me that this virus might be more serious than people are letting on. I don’t have all the answers, so I can’t speculate. I am only going with my gut feelings. I’m hoping that soon this all blows over and people impacted can get back to their normal lives.

We have seen the horrific nature of biological weapons. In World War I it was mustard gas. We’ve seen the nerve agents such as sarin gas and other agents used on human beings. In laboratories all over the world, we continue to experiment on these agents and come up with new ones. We do this simply so we can kill other people; they serve no other purpose. We are screwing with viruses and other things we really don’t understand. We think we do, but we don’t. The more we upset the delicate balance of nature the more problems we are going to face. Eventually, one of these viruses we have created will get out of hand, and we won’t be able to control it.

Screwing with our DNA

While I applaud technologies like CRISPR that are trying to do the right thing when it comes to making life better for people on planet Earth, I’m not sure we are doing the right thing. The problem with this is that we’re getting right down into our DNA. We don’t know the full outcome of what is going to happen when we start to mess with our actual DNA. We are born on this planet, live our lives, and then we die. In some cases, some of us die earlier than others. The reason for this is that its nature’s balance.

I know that scientists, physicists, and other experts are looking for ways to cure horrible diseases such as cancer, but we don’t know the long-term impacts of this on the planet itself. Maybe in our process, we will unleash something that will be completely catastrophic to life itself. We should not be editing our DNA. Of course, this is just one person’s opinion. I simply see that the planet is becoming out of balance with nature. The more out-of-balance we become; the worse things are going to get on this planet.

Reconnect with Earth

The ancient cultures understood the planet a lot more than we do. We may have excellent technology we have lost touch with what it means to be humans on this planet. The ancient cultures understood their place on the planet. We, on the other hand, continue to destroy the planet. We poison our waterways, poison our land, create mass problems such as the Pacific Garbage Patch. We continue to wage war and unleash all sorts of toxins and chemicals into our atmosphere. Our planet is simply fighting back. It may start seeing us as a pestilence that it must eradicate. Nature always finds a way. Whether it is recovery from a giant meteor that smashes into the Earth, continents that split apart during tectonic upheavals, giant storms, or massive volcanoes, nature finds a way. Nature comes back.

Bring Back Humanity

We are losing our compassion, understanding, empathy, and in fact, our very humanity. We replace this with greed, selfishness, loathing, and hatred. We are not Asian, white, black, gay, transsexual, Muslim, and so on. We are simply human beings in a relationship with planet Earth. We need the end of the cycle and the need for endless profit. As we further divide ourselves, we draw further away from the earth itself. It’s this quest that is destroying this great gift we’ve been given. We are all living in this wonderful world. We have water, food, animals, air to breathe, but we are misusing and abusing this great gift.

We think we control Mother Nature. We think we are better than Mother Nature, but we are not. One of these days, whether it is the new coronavirus, another virus, or an unspeakable and destructive war, we will lose. We must reconnect with this world and everything that we’ve been given. We must come together and make this a place for everyone not just for the few. Our world, our planet Earth, holds the final card.

That card is the Ace of Spades.
