Visit American Cities? Thanks, I’ll Stay Home
I never understood the love affair with cities. I grew up in the city so I understand what it’s like to live in a city. I grew up in the Vancouver area of British Columbia, Canada. For several decades I have seen my once great city crumble into a pile of shit. When I was a kid, I felt safe being in the city. I felt safe getting on the bus and going into the city of Vancouver.
I enjoyed visiting the city, I enjoy going up and down the street and visiting all of the music stores. I remember going into the shops and buying albums, checking out all of the guitars, and otherwise having a good time. Now I will not be caught dead in the city of Vancouver. I hate that place. There is nothing about the city that is enjoyable anymore. Cities are now two extremes. There is either an area of the city that is extremely rich, or there’s an area of the city that is extremely poor.
There is no in-between anymore. The middle class and all of these cities have been stretched to the breaking point. In Vancouver for example, the cost of a home is pretty much close to a million dollars. I don’t know too many people that can afford this type of home. There is either a rich element in the city or an extremely poor element. This is going to increase over the coming years. There is no going back to a nice city. It is simply impossible when everything is so…
