Sail away, father

I sit and hold your hand

The hourglass almost out of sand

You slip so far away

Prayers and hope won’t matter today

You lived your life a sailor at sea

But always came home to mom and me

We laughed, we cried and in this life, we got by

It’s at the end and I ask why

Life runs its course for us all

Even the strong the loving, the caring, fall

The sun shines this warm July day

I’m with you to keep the loneliness at bay

Mom is on deck now sailor, so take her hand

That hourglass now out of sand

Sailor, sail away
