Money The Root of All Evil

Money is what some call the root of all evil. I tend to agree on this. We spend our entire lives obsessed with some numbers on a piece of paper or on our computer screen. When we have more numbers we are happy, when we have less we feel depressed. When we have few numbers to our name we can become destitute and living in the street while the machine of money continues to churn and turns a blind eye to those that don’t possess it.

Each day we go to and from our “work” or sometimes we “work” at home. We do this to increase the numbers in our pocketbook. It’s a sad world we live in when the meaning of life boils down to how many numbers you have to your name. We look at awe and admiration at those that have a lot of numbers to their name. Often we put them on a pedestal and worship them like gods.

“All hail the rich one, bless us with your wisdom!”

It’s so downright pathetic that it defies description. We continue to plunder and destroy our world all in the quest for more numbers to our name. We obsess over the stock market, search for the best rates for our mortgage, and sigh with relief when Friday comes so we can go out and get knockdown drunk so we can forget our weekly work and headaches.

I’m just like everyone else; I write in an attempt to make more money for myself and my family but this doesn’t mean I like money. In fact, I hate the very existence of money and the way it’s destroying our world. The wheels go round and round, round and round, round and round, each and every day.

It’s a crime
Share it fairly but don’t take a slice of my pie
So they say
Is the root of all evil today

Pink Floyd, Money

Money in itself isn’t bad but our greed and desire for more of it is what has caused such chaos and destruction of our world. We have large piles of plastic out in the Pacific called the “Great Garbage Patch” in our quest to make more money and sell our products to others. It’s ironic that our desire to make the world a better place may be what destroys it. We made plastic to make life easier and to provide convenience but it’s just one example of how our quest for money is destroying our world.

The everyday person wants to fix the world and make it better, they want to clean up things such as the garbage patch but the lure of money, profits, and the desire for more means that these things will probably never happen because they reduce the “bottom” line and the money machine must role on.

“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” — John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton

The desire and just for more money has stripped many of us of our humanity. We could look and care for the entire world but we won’t because it impacts the “bottom line” The numbers on the screen are more important than the individual who suffers simply because they lack said numbers to their name. There are many that try to help through charities and other organizations and this is a good thing. In some cases, these charities are found out to be using money given to them for other purposes. This is because of the desire to have “more money” outweighs the desire to help humanity.

Our world is sitting on the edge of collapse at some point. This might nor occur now but in the near future, it could very well collapse as it’s a huge house of cards. I don’t have much confidence that our “financial experts” can get us out of this mess. We have done it to ourselves as a society in our never-ending quest for more money above all else.

We panic when the numbers go down and jump for glee when they do up regardless of how these numbers impact the rest of humanity. If you don’t have money, you don’t eat, you don’t have a roof over your head and you may, in fact, die. No one cares because we are all in this same boat. No money, no life. When you really think about this, it’s truly, FUCKED. The money machine rolls on. It rolls on and on and on. Yay, for humanity.

The main reason the young today rebels as they know the system is broken. The older generations used to scream at the “man” now they are the “man” and on and on it goes. Now sit down, shut up, and worship your numbers on the screen. There’s money to be made, screw everything else! As the money machine collapses, chaos and war is the next step. Our money masters will attempt to fix it, I assure you.

Perhaps in the future when our world is completely decimated the fat cats can sit on a rock and stuff handfuls of money into their mouths as it will be all we have left.
