I’ve decided to take charge of my health. In a few short months, I will be 50. I’ve put on a significant amount of weight in my forties. I was never that heavy in my 20s or 30s, but it was easier to burn fat off when I did gain it. Now that I’m closer to 50, it is much harder to lose weight. Today is day one of my intermittent fasting journey. I am combining this with a sensible diet as well as strength training and cardiovascular training. I believe this will be the best option for me moving forward in terms of my health.

Day One

I’ve been doing a lot of research about intermittent fasting, and it seems that people are having success with it. When you intermittent fast, you’re abstaining from food for a set the duration. I am doing the16:8 fast. This is where you eat for 8 hours and fast for 16. For me, this will mean skipping breakfast and then eating lunch. After my main meal at night, I will refrain from eating anything but still drink water.

I started this last night, and I was able to get through the entire night without craving any food. I had a decent dinner, so I really didn’t feel like eating afterward. I think this will be the key moving forward. I will need to eat a decent dinner to feel full enough to make it through to the next morning.

Breakfast

I don’t normally eat breakfast, but I am snacking throughout the morning. This might be the reason why I have put on some of my weight. I probably don’t realize the calorie count of some of the foods that I’ve been eating. I usually tend to have a light lunch but then snack for the afternoon. I usually eat a decent dinner, but then again, I’m snacking in the evening after dinner. During my intermittent fasting, I will not be eating breakfast at all. I will be limiting myself to black coffee, tea, or water. I will not be consuming any calories or taking any cream or sugar in my beverages.

How I Feel Today

I made it through the early morning hours without any problem at all. I had some black coffee Followed by a large container of water. I really do not feel any hunger pangs until around 10. I managed to go to 11, so I did meet my fasting goals up going 16 hours without food. This was not as hard as I thought it was. When I did reach the end…
