Automation and Job Loss
I will admit, I am not a very big fan of automation. While I think that’s some things are made better by automation, I don’t think it’s going to bring us a very promising future. The reason for this is I just see far too much of job loss and the inability of people to find work.
The reason for this is that not everybody has the skills to work in computers, AI, and other advanced technology industries. What are the average people going to do? No one seems to be able to answer that. For example, I wanted to be a computer programmer. I took university courses and tried my best to get into computer programming. The problem is that I am just not that good at mathematics. I struggled big time to master it. I had an excellent tutor, and I still only managed to get a C+ in statistics. I had to drop out, as it wasn’t for me.
I’m sure there are other people that are just not good at certain subjects. No matter how much they study them, they will not be able to understand that the subject matter and are suited for basic jobs. The problem with automation is that it’s going to take away many of these basic jobs. For example, I live in a small town in Canada. My town now has many teller jobs that are being taken away by automation. I will no longer shop in these stores because of the automation. I will not support companies…
